ABOUT KATIE

I have been teaching yoga and movement as a healing art since 2005.
I am an ERYT-500, Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Yoga Teacher Trainer, Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and was a certified Anusara Yoga teacher for many years.

Sometimes I describe the style of yoga I teach as dynamic alignment and relational movement.
The yoga I teach is progressive - everything builds on everything else - and sustainable - movement, postures, and sequences in service of balancing strength and flexibility. To me, alignment is about attunement - establishing reference points in the body to focus attention, deepen sensory awareness, and support coordinating movement in intelligent patterns that reflect wholeness rather than fragmentation.

Deeply informed by long time studies in non-dual Tantra and current interests in applied psychology, Non Violent Communication (NVC), Somatic Experiencing, and creative movement practices, I aim to bring practicality, relevance, and soulful intention into what I share in ways that are accessible, down to earth, and
change making.

I offer workshops, immersive study programs, retreats, and yoga teacher trainings at studios across New Zealand and overseas. I support whole person healing in one-on-one yoga therapy and body centred conversations. As a yoga therapist, I work with both physical and mental/emotional health. I offer ongoing mentorship|supervision for yoga teachers and yoga therapists.

I am currently completing postgraduate study in Counselling and training in Peter Levine's body psychotherapy modality, Somatic Experiencing.

I was the original founder of Grassroots Yoga in Christchurch, the city where I lived and taught yoga for 11 years.  I now live in Wellington with my partner and our super fun motley crew - Kether's active 14 year old boys and our recent arrival Zoe.
